杉玉造り

なんと「杉玉」造りのお手伝いをさせていただきました！！

杉玉は日本酒の酒蔵が玄関の軒下に吊るして「新酒が出来たよー」と知らせるサインです。

現在は酒蔵だけでなく、多くの酒屋さんや居酒屋さんでも吊るしています。

今回はお世話になっている宮崎台の日本酒バーのオーナーさんにお声をかけていただき、貴重な体験をさせていただけることになりました。心から感謝です!

最初は杉の葉っぱが無造作に掛けられていますが、だんだんと綺麗な形になっていきます。

What an amazing experience!

I made a Sugidama!!

“Sugidama/Sugitama” is a large sphere craft formed with a bunch of cedar leaves to hang at the entrance of sake breweries for letting people know that their new sake of the year is ready! The tradition has been passed down for hundreds of years.

Last week, the owner of my favorite sake bar invited me to join him in making Sugidama together. Thank you Hayato-san!!

Initially, uneven cedar leaves are hung on the wire, but it began to take shape as we trimmed.

I am so grateful for this valuable experience soon after becoming a sake sommelier!
